  1. Hi I'm  new to this group, not sure what to say really. I have recently been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in my bones  and so far have had various scans ct mri and ultra sound and am now waiting for another mri to have a better look of my spine so I haven't started any treatment yet apart from various pain relief, at the moment I'm taking liquid morphine  but still in a lot of pain. I suppose I'm just looking for someone to tell me that at some point when treatment starts I will be in less pain
  • Hi  and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.

While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and proposed treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. • Hi, I was diagnosed June 2024 with secondary in my spine, i had horrendous back pain the early part of the year, I also then found a lump in my boob about a month before, I was sent for a biopsy and also CT scan that same weekend, then I had the dreaded call.  I was in total shock to be told I had breast and secondary spine cancer

I was sent for a blast of radiotherapy on one of the lesions on my spine, this worked amazingly well and I am now able to do most things with ease, I do get a few twinges when I overdo it but nothing at all like the pain in the beginning

I am on Letrozole (a hormone blocker), Abemaciclib and a bone strengthening injection and I am doing really well, I have been back at work since December and apart from getting tired I am fine.  I am sure you will find once you are having treatment and you know you plan you will start to feel better and they will give/do something to ease your pain

let us know how you get on once all the scans and appointments are done

good luck and stay positive xx

  • Thankyou for the advice have just done that

  • Hi there.  I had breast cancer 12 years ago and I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in September last year.  I have bad back and hip ache.  I find that tramadol works for me and I have cyclizine as well for the nausea.  I have slow release morphine and liquid morphine as well but this makes me constipated.  I take a morphine with the tramadol some nights when pain is really bad.  Oncologist says that this is okay.  I try and just stick to the tramadol.  I also find that walking helps and it eases the pain.  It is worse if I sit down for long.  I also have a back brace to wear which oncologist prescribed for me.  I also had radiotherapy to spine and this also helped.  I hope that your pain eases for you.  What treatment are you going on?  I am on Ribociclib, exemastane and denosumab injections.  Big hugs.
