Need insurance for the USA with Metatastic Breast cancer

Diagnosed January 2025. My previous travel insurance covered me because the flights were booked September 2024.

Now needing to find insurance. Not sure whether to have annual or single trip. Travelling to the USA, flights only.

Anybody have any advice or recommendations?

Thanks Rita

  • I have metastatic BC and an annual travel policy through Insurancewith. I didn’t include the Americas as that always makes insurance more expensive and I don’t plan to go there at present. Insurancewith was founded by someone who had cancer and had had difficulty getting insurance. It takes you through a very detailed questionnaire whereas most insurance policies use the same algorithms and say no to metastatic cancer.

  • Thanks for the answer. I will contact them on Monday

  • Hi , I have Mets in the liver . I’m currently stable but also had a mixed response on one scan . I used insurewith when I had  a mixed response and when stable and both quotes very reasonable. As codfish said, the questions are very specific which helps us. I don’t know what they’re like if you claim though. I used avanti last year but it is 3 times more expensive and cant afford it this year but I still wanted to go away. Holidays keep me going! I  think you’ll always find a bad review on whatever insurance you use so I’ve chosen the cheaper option this year. I thought there must be a catch but maybe the more expensive ones are just a rip off! Good luck and enjoy xxBlush

  • Just so people have an idea , I went to Spain for 5 days. I had a mixed response on my scan (one tumour smaller and one bigger , turned out it was stable on mri but I didn’t know that when I got the quote from insurewith).  I’ve had no issues with bloods but noted side effects of dioreah and fatigue , also previous cellulitis and lynphadema. Quote was about 85 pounds . Just thought it might help others looking for insurance by sharing this information. Xx

  • This is very helpful, thanks for sharing x
