Hi.
I’m Pat & yesterday I started my cancer pills for 2ndry beast cancer in my lung.
I had breast cancer 19 years ago & thought this was all behind me, so a bit of a shock when I lost some weight, had a blood test & a cancer marker appeared.
Proper Diagnosis has taken 4 months to get to this point.
to many of you this story will have been heard before
i don’t really feel ill just tired & now apparently I’m vulnerable & disabled.
Emotionally exhausted, & overwhelmed with information.
Pat
Hi CraftyPat and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I'm sorry to read that you've recently been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer and I can understand that you'd feel treatment and tests were something that you'd left behind a long time ago.
If you have any questions about your new treatment, or want to ask others how they've got on, just start a new post and I'm sure you'll get lots of help.
It would be great if you could pop something about your diagnosis and treatment so far into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.

Hi, do you mind me asking what took so long to get the diagnosis. The reason I ask is that my wife who had breast cancer in 2015 and endometrial cancer in Nov 2022, has developed a cough that she has had for 5 months. To be fair at the start it wasn’t that bad and due to treatment for endometrial cancer we ‘parked’ the cough concerns. But since that has now completed we have been pushing the GP for a resolution to the cough ( clearly as the tv adverts state any cough that lasts more than 3 weeks could be lung cancer’. So far the Gp prescribed antibiotics than a chest X-ray 7 weeks ago which did show some infection, so more anti biotics which didn’t help. Then GP ran another X-ray which showed a clear chest, as the cough is continuing Gp wants to try an anti acid reflux pill for a month. I have been pushing for a Ct scan but no luck as yet as Gp is worried about radiation exposure especially as X-ray was clear.
I would be very interested in any other symptoms you may have had.
Thanks
