Just joined the community as have recently been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer. Having side effect problems with exemastane especially lack of appetite. Any suggestions, please
Hi SeaWise and a very warm welcome to the online community which I hope you'll find is both an informative and supportive place to be.
I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community and, although I'm not a member of this group, I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet. Responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list again.
I've done a search in the group to see if I could find any previous posts which mention exemastane and found these three.
While you're waiting for replies, it would be great if you could put something about your diagnosis and treatment into your profile as it really helps others when replying to you and also when looking for someone on a similar pathway. It also means that you don't have to keep repeating yourself. To do this click on your username and then select 'Profile'. You can amend it at any time and if you're not sure what to write you can take a look at mine by clicking on my username.
Hi SeaWise, I am on Exemastane and have been for 7 months. I have the opposite and eat everything. I am desperately trying to lose weight but cakes and chocolates are my downfall. Hopefully you will have no side effects soon and it will all settle down. Maybe it is just your body getting used to it.

Thanks for that, Lee. They have taken me off it as I have been unable to eat anything. You and I should get together. Unfortunately the withdrawal effects are even worse. I have had a scan this week and oncology team meeting at end of month when they will decide how to proceed
Hi SeaWise. I really didn't know that exemastane could have such serious side effects. Are you on other medication that could be causing it. I have secondary lobular breast cancer with mets in pelvis, spine, ribs and skull. I am on exemastane, ribociclib and denosumab. What scan did you have, hopefully they will put a treatment plan in place for you. This is a horrible journey to be on.

Just a regular three monthly CT scan - at the moment it is in the lungs. I am very queer with medications at the best of times. I was on letrozole when I was first diagnosed 14 years ago and it did me well. We'll see what they say at the end of the month!
