Hi all,
I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer to the bones in Feb 2021. My first breast cancer was in 2016 and I thought I had recovered from it when I was diagnosed for the second time.

Hello, my mum has just been diagnosed with secondary breast cancer in her liver. She’s waiting to find out her treatment plan. All feels very overwhelming and incredibly scary. She was diagnosed with breast cancer 5 years ago and we too thought she had fully recovered. How are you feeling and how is your treatment plan going?
Ah bless her. That’s exactly me!
I’ve been on treatment for 3 months nearly now. Tablets for 21 days then a break and Letrozole also daily.
I’m not too bad at the moment. Feel tired quicker but I’m really throwing myself into work. It helps me keep normal!
I have my first scan next week… to see how it’s all going. Fingers crossed.
It’s very scary, I know exactly the feeling… it’s a constant try and see for something that you know can never be cured. Sometimes I feel like a ticking time bomb and I’m ever so grateful that I wake up every day! Very weird place to be!
How is your Mum doing? X
Hi Gemma,
I'm doing ok thanks. I’ve responded well to the meds so far although I had to be dropped down a dosage last spring as it was too strong for me and my blood count was always too low. Sure I can get tired which is a pain but I don’t let it stop me. It can feel that cancer takes over your life at times too, and especially now having to be covid careful too.
stay strong x
Hi olive,
a cancer diagnose can be scary for everyone at first, not just the a actual person. You all need to just take time to take it all in. Try and give your mum her time too as she could well be worrying about yous all too as well as herself. It hit my family too, children, my siblings and close friends. A lot of hugs and love. Some crying can be good too.
my treatment has been all good so far. There are so many different treatments out there now so people can be given different treatments and it will also depend on what type of cancer your mum had and now has, and what’s she had in the past.
just try and stay strong all of you. X
