Hi

I got my diagnosis of secondary breast cancer of the bones last week after finding a lump a month ago.

I'm still trying to get my head around it . I have no idea what lies ahead of me.

    Hi

So sorry to hear about your diagnosis and my heart goes out to you.  I was diagnosed with secondary breast cancer that has gone into one of my lungs and still can’t get my head around it. However, I am just taking a day at a time.  Hopefully you will have and get plenty of support.  I am hoping that you will know soon what the next steps are for you.

Take me care and keep in touch

    Morning   Fish

Warm welcome to the club no one wants to join - but pleased you have found us...

So sorry to read about your newly found bone secondary, if this has been found at the same time as a breast cancer diagnosis it is a lot to take in so not surprised you are having problems trying to get your head around it all.

Two things - Although this is classed as incurable it is by no means untreatable and there are many ladies here with bone mets who have been kept stable for many years.  Try to look at it as living with cancer; not dying from it Thumbsup tone2

Now the not so good part, you will probably be offered chemo, surgery and radiotherapy which is all fairly standard for trying to fix this.

Have you been given any follow up appointment dates as these can give you a clue as to what is coming up next.  When you get a treatment plan put into place you could also join the Main Breast Group here as the treatments will be very similar to primary BC and that group is just about the most active for support, advice and information from other BC ladies who are having, or have already completed treatment.

Hope this is of some help at a scary time, fingers crossed the spread isn't as bad as you could be thinking.

    Take Care, G n' J

    Hi Tuna

Im sorry to hear your news as it is quite a shock isn’t it. I have secondaries in a rib and my liver - so I know how you must be feeling. However I try to think of it as living with cancer - I was diagnosed a 2 1/2 years ago and have been prescribed palbociclib .
So far it’s keeping everything stable and somehow I’m learning  to live with it.
This group is very supportive and helped me with my fears .

    Hi Jane

It's good of you to contact me and it's also good to know that people are getting on and living with secondary cancer.

    Hi Tuna

we sure are! I was diagnosed 2 years ago with BC following routine mammo. I’ll cut along story short but extensive bone mets discovered at a later stage. My world fell apart. I thought I was going to die straightaway and I found such support here on this chat room from others that it made me pull myself together and get on with living!

im doing ok and I’m sure you will too.
im on letrazole and have just resumed Denosumab injections or bone juice. I had lumpectomy then mastectomy and lymph node clearance.

i feel good. It’s pants but you will get a sense of perspective and learn to live with a “chronic disease” .
shout out if you need a hug

    thinking of you
