Reasons to have hope

Hi everyone in this group! I was going to try to name you all but didn’t want to miss anyone out.
Just thought you’d like to hear a story from the Secondary Breast Cancer support group that I went to last week.
A woman came up to me and told me that she was told she had 18 months to live in 2005, and she looks and feels fantastic. We all talked about living with this as a long term chronic condition, and there seem to be a lot of us doing just that.
Plus, people (my Macmillan counsellor and GP included) keep telling me how stage 4 breast cancer is being treated differently all the time, with new advances happening in the science.
So there really are reasons for us to live with hope.
With my very best wishes to you all

  • Hi LivingVic                                                                                                                                                                                      What a lovely post to read,i know about everyone names its takes time to organise everyone in your head and i don,t like to miss people out. I am sorry i missed you though. You are lucky to have find a Secondary Breast Cancer support group near you, i have been looking by were i live and the only one is to far away and i particularly wanted to go to that type of group.I have just had my scan dates for the 17th of march i am having them both in the same day CT and Bone scan what a day thats going to be but i want them asap.I am quite sure its going to be bad news as x ray shows bone changes and my doctor is worried and i know something is not right.                                                                                                    But on a better note, you seem positive and talking to other people helps,so you are right there are reasons to live i want to be there like you, again thanks for your post it sent me to work in a better frame of mind Keep in touch Keep well Xx

Hi  thanks so much for sharing this. What an amazing story. Would you mind adding it also to the positive stories thread? It would be good to keep all these positive posts together. Fantastic stuff.

    Thanks again.
