Hi, does anyone else with secondary breast cancer receive IV chemo (FEC)? Lots of you seem to be on oral chemo and I wondered why I'm on the regular stuff and how unusual it is!
Thanks everyone.
Hi Noswad1
I am just about to have my 4th EC (not having the F).
I don't know where you are in terms of treatments you have had. I have about exhausted all treatment options and the EC is to give my liver a real blast to try and reduce the mets before I go back onto hormone treatment.
Doesn't seem any rhyme or reason to who goes on what and when, may be worth asking why they have put you on this particular treatment.
Hope the FEC is kind to you.
Vicky
Hi Vicky (), this is my first line of treatment. I am about to have my fourth FEC. I have to say that I have hardly had any side effects aside from some hair loss (got about a third of it left!) and a bout of thrush. I keep reading about everyone's bad side effects and think myself lucky in that respect at least!
Hope your treatment sorts out your liver mets.
Thanks for replying!
Hi
I asked the Oncologist why I would be taking Oral Chemotherapy ( Capecitabine) and her reply was that it was “gentler on the system”.
So, I suppose it really depends on the different factors involved for the individual and their treatment plan.
