Hello

I've just started (4days) Ribociclib after being diagnosed with metastatic breast cancer in my lymph nodes,

I'm suffering badly with joint pain, mainly on my left shoulder and very lethargic,

I started Letrozole tabs 2 weeks before which went smoothly, the addition of Ribociclib has wiped me out!

Just wondering if other people found this and how you dealt with it, luckily my daughter is now 17 and capable to look after herself, but I'm also a carer for my elderly father, my husband has taken on that job but I'm stubborn and try to help but im more a hindrance

Any advice or knowledge greatly appreciated xx

  • Hi Peace Lilly

I am not sure how helpful you will find this response and there are a lot of people on here that have been taking your current medicines for longer than I.

I was diagnosed in April this year with metastatic cancer which has also materialised in my spine and hip.

I started on Letrozole almost straight away and was then given Ribociclib 600mg.  I have 4 weekly Zodalex infusions for my bones as well.

I only managed one cycle of Ribo - this was not due to any pain but one part of my blood results really went through the roof. After a 7 week break I was changed to Palbo.  I have just completed once cycle of this and my bloods are holding - fingers crossed it will stay this way and I pick up next cycle next week.

I can honestly say at the moment I am not in any pain in my joints, I am lethargic but not extremely.  I have made myself do a little bot more exercise as in daily walks and change my diet - pre diagnosis I was eating a very unhealthy diet. I think the lethargicness (is that even a word) is part of the side effects, although the weather at the moment is clearly not helping.

Don't be stubborn let people help you.  It seems like  you have some good support. I hope some of the other members on here can give you some good advice.

Hope this helps in some small way

    Hello IamLyn

Thank you for your reply, my diet needs looking at as during diagnosis I had issues around swallowing and couldn't eat or drink properly, all was checked and no problems or medical reason why I couldn't swallow, so in the last few weeks I've been mentally retraining myself so it's getting better, this also meant I rapidly lost weight and ate next to nothing, which is also causing its own side effects on my body.

I drink a smoothie a day eat yoghurts, cereal, I brought some soup but it's been a little warm for that...I'm slowly building it up though.

    I also have zoladex injections.

Subconsciously I think I'm fighting it all instead of embracing it and dealing with this is how it is now, as my husband says I'm not a good patient ^_^

    Big hugs to you xx
