I had breast cancer 3 years ago and had a mastectomy, chemo and radiation.  I had to request bloods to be done this year because no one bothered for the last two.  I had a oncologist appointment and told her about some pain I was getting in the right side of my stomach, and she said looks like gall stones go and see your doctor.  Just had scan and now told cancer has spread to my liver.

I am waiting to have the bone and ct scan to see what I am facing.  I have goggled and it looks like I only have months to live?  has anyone else got secondary liver cancer and with what help / therapies / life expectancy / etc.

  • Hi Karen

I was diagnosed in June 2018 with secondary breast cancer with mets to the omentum and liver.    I have been treated with palbociclib (Ibrance) and letrozole and so far this has been a very kind treatment.    My hair has thinned a bit but the main problem has been low white cells (neutropenia) which has forced a few delays in treatment and on one occasion a hospital admission for sepsis.    However I am still here so take heart .   I am sure you will feel a lot better when you have a treatment plan in front of you.   Good luck x

Hi Karen, sorry to hear your news.

This bit at the beginning is the worst part - waiting to find out where it is and what's the plan.

After primary in 2013 I was dx with secondaries in Nov 15. It's in my lungs, liver, bones and several lymph nodes. Very scary and was given very poor prognosis by my ONC. But I am one of the lucky ones, I have reacted very well to treatment and am still here 31/2 years later. So don't panic, there are lots of treatment options out there.

Try and stay away from the evil Dr Google.

Big hugs and let us know how you get on.

    P xx
