Hi everyone,

I was suppose to have electrochemotherapy last Friday but unfortunately it was cancelled due to a national shortage of the drug bleomycin.

I went to see an oncologist yesterday and he said that they now may try a combination of paclitaxel and carboplatin which he is thinking of administering on a weekly basis as a control measure rather than a cure, but wanted to have a meeting with all the consultants and doctors that I've dealt with over the last couple of months so now have to wait for their decision until next week.

This all started with a tiny lump around the middle of April and has now increased to nine lumps that are growing and are all visible.

One of the consultants I saw about a month ago who was to perform the electrochemotherapy said he didn't think that an operation to remove the tumours and replace the skin from my back would heal properly due to previous radiotherapy (finished Jan 16) but prior to that my consultant who did the mastectomy didn't think this was a problem or at least didn't mention it.

I'm really struggling to come to terms with this information and don't know what to do any suggestions or help would be much appreciated.

Hope you are all well.

    Hi Caz48

Have just come across your post and can see that you haven't had any replies yet so can't pass by without dropping you a note. I'm not an expert at all but have attended various Oncology appointments now and have had to ask for clarity myself on most of it to be honest.

Ah you just don't need conflicting information do you, its stressful enough getting your head around the right information without the consultants making it harder!!! Hopefully the meeting with the others involved in your care will come up with a definitive plan of action, so hopefully next week you will have a plan and things will be a bit clearer for you. But if not then simply ask, and if you still aren't happy ask again. You need to be reassured and confident in the plan otherwise that doubt will niggle away. if you feel that one consultant has said this and another has said that then simply ask them to explain the reasons. What one consultant thinks is not an option another may have a different view.

Hope that you are holding up. Stay positive that your worries will be ironed out by next weeks decision.

    Sending positive thoughts to you

    Hi Bevvy82,

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Glad I'm not the only one who struggles to understand what is being said.

I will certainly try to be more forceful to get the correct information and why one is saying different to the others which I thought I'd asked this time but maybe not. Sometimes coming home and processing what been said later helps but not this time it put me in panic mode.

    thanks again for the advise.

    Hi Caz48,

I know your post was a couple of years or so ago but wonder how they did treat? I seem to have a similar problem of tumours on the chest/ breast skin which are bleeding/weeping and painful. I'm having to have them dressed every day or so - and may possibly get some radiotherapy.

They're really quite disruptive to manage with problems washing, pain and visits to nurses ever day or two.

Do have any advice to give from your experience, please?

Best wishes with your latest treatment,

    Sylvia x
