Hi All,
I hope everyone is doing ok, i have a qucik question and was wondering if anyone can help. My wife is undergoing Eribulin chemo therapy for SBC which consists of 2 weeks of treatment then a week off. On her weeks of treatment she has to take 2 lots of steroids each day for 3 days after treatment, she has been suffering terribly with forgetfulness and has forgotten a few times to take the steriods. She has taken them upon remebering but it may a day later.
I am not sure what impact this has on the effectiveness of the treatment, does anyone have any experinece of this and is it an issue?
Thanks in advance.
MC
Hi - I also take steroids (Dexamethasone) for 3 days in week 1 of my Gem-Carbo chemo for SBC.
My understanding is that the steroids are to reduce nausea and are not actually part of the "chemo treatment". My tablet box actually says "for the relief of nausea and vomiting".
But best to ask your Breast Care nurse to confirm, just to be sure.
I made myself a ticklist (on my laptop, then printed off) that I fill in for each cycle to keep track of the tablets and injections that I'm meant to take. I try to write down the time that I took them on the list.
Good luck !
Hi there
i don’t take steroids for my secondary breast cancer but take drugs for the cancer and rheumatoid arthritis. I have a dossett box which has compartments for the tablets as I’m on a 21 day cycle of palbociclib for the cancer plus other tablets for cancer, thyroid and arthritis! The box helps me remember what day it is and what needs taking.
The boxes are available on Amazon and at pharmacies and not expensive so this may be of help for your wife.
best wishes
Hi - I took steroids for 3 days in week 1 when I was on Carbo/Taxol and I found it caused my eyesight to go blurry. I mentioned it to the oncologist at my checkup and with her agreement I reduced the amount of steroids I took which helped enormously. I was lucky in that I never suffered from nausea so I felt fine with reducing the dose of steroids.
Hey Starflower, thank you for taking the time to reply. Yes we have those boxes unfortuantley we got out of the habit of using them. I will have to get them out again.
thnaks again and take care

Hey Falmingo Flyer, thank you for taking the time to reply to my message. I thought the steriods were part of the treatment not for the nausea, i will ask the doctors next time we see them.
take care
