Tolerating meds

Started on palbo and letrozole last January for bone mets and treatment worked really well for a year. Then suddenly my bloods started struggling- low haemoglobin and neutrophils. Had to come off treatment as cancer was getting worse due to all the extra weeks off treatment and started abemaciclib in the hope that it would be kinder to bloods. However, after just one cylcle haemoglobin is down to 77 and neutrophils 0.79. Currently waiting to have another blood transfusion. It’s so disheartening to know that the drugs work on the cancer but my body can’t tolerate them. Suspect I’ll be moved on to something else when I go back and see oncologist but am really worried there isn’t a treatment out there that I can tolerate.
Anyone else had a similar experience?

  • Hi

I'm sorry to read about all the problems you've encountered while having treatment for secondary breast cancer.

I noticed that your post hadn't had any replies yet so responding to you will 'bump' it back to the top of the discussion list where it'll be easier to see.

I notice that you also posted a few years ago about the possibility of having vulval cancer and I wonder if you ended up with a vulval cancer diagnosis as well.
