Hi all,
Hope you're all doing ok. I've just had my biopsy results from a rash on my mastectomy site. It turns out that the cancer is in my chest wall and has changed from HER positive to HER Negative.
The treatment I am on is not working and I am changing to Capecitabine. I wondered if anyone else has had this experience and if anyone else is on the above drug and how they are finding it.
Thanks x
Hi Lolly,
With capecitabine the worst side effect for my wife is hand & foot syndrome. Basically your palms and soles get really red and dry and can crack, which is quite painful.
Stock up on the most moisturising creams that you can, and use them a LOT!
HTH,
Andy
Thanks Andy, that's really helpful.
Hope your wife is doing ok .

Hi Andy,
Hope you and your wife are ok. Would you mind telling me how your wife manages to take these tablets 12 hours apart and with food.
Thanks x
Hi Lolly,
She has the first one at 8am with a small pastry (we don't really eat breakfast), and the second at 8pm after dinner.
I believe the "with food" element is to reduce the risk of stomach upset, so I don't think it matters too much.
If it were "on an empty stomach", I think that would be more important as food may prevent proper absorption.
Cheers,
Andy
