Capecitabine

Hi all

I have just been told my treatment palbociclib is being changed to capecitabine due to progression in my femur that  was initially found in a scan in October 24.

My  understanding from ct and mri scans was that palbociclib was effective in the areas in my spine and sacrum. Wondering why this is now being changed and wondered if others could share experiences of capecitabine.

I have to go for a DNA blood test first, again don't really know what to expect or how quickly treatment will start. It was a different doctor who rang yesterday and he asked me what I knew??. I did ask questions but could tell he was unsure of responses. I was sent for a pelvic ultrasound last week, never had one before and no idea why it was requested, obviously i panicked and thought recent MRI had picked something. When I asked he said he didn't know and couldn't see anything on system..

I also asked about radiotherapy to my femur this was mentioned last year then dismissed but then mentioned again, I asked if it was now being considered but he said he didn't know an would need to speak to colleagues at a different hospital.

Any advice or experience welcome xx

  • Hi Lfc74

I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on the online Community.  I was put on capecitabine four years ago because there was still cancer present after my operation for triple negative breast cancer.  I had 8 cycles of the drug, two weeks on and one week off.  I was on the tablets for six months.  I didn't have any side effects from the drug and completed all 8 cycles.

Wishing you the best of luck with the new treatment.

    Best wishes
