Hi all,
First post here. Mum diagnosed with BC a year ago, had lumpectomy and radiotherapy. It was 1.8cm, T1N0M0. At time of diagnosis had spot on sternum which from follow up MRI (3 monthly scans) has been thought to be benign. Had a CT scan in summer for unrelated issue, and found spot on rib. Consultant deemed this likely to be benign and ordered follow up CT in 6 months. We’ve just had this scan and results - which suggest no change in lesion. However over last week the spot where it is has started to cause her pain… really unsure what to do given that follow up CT two weeks ago suggests all fine… advice would be greatly appreciated! Should we be pushing for more tests or a biopsy?
Hi Superfish,
Usually a decent radiologist would be able to determine if a lesion is malignant or not on an MRI (less so on a CT).
However a PET scan would be more useful, and really a biopsy is the only way to be sure.
That said, if nothing is growing on MRI/CT, I wouldn't be too concerned. Perhaps ask them to bring forward the follow up CT to 3 months?
