still got pai in back and sternum - gp has looked at painkillers now on zoromorph naproxen and oromorph for break through pain

feeling fed up - just want to wake up one day with no pain and be able to move around !

trying to stay positive but finding it hard - anyone else had this treatment?

  • Hi

I haven't had the combination of drugs you mention but noticed that you hadn't had any replies to your post yet.

I typed 'trastuzumab, docetaxel and pertuzumab' into the search bar in the group to see if anyone had posted previously about this combination of drugs but unfortunately drew a blank. Have you spoken to your CNS about the side effects you're experiencing and the fact that you are still in pain? Your team would want to know so that they can help if possible.

I have found this information from Macmillan about the combination of pertuzumab, trastuzumab and docetaxel. It does mention the possible side effects but doesn't say how long they last for.

You could post your question in the ask a nurse section of the online community and one of the specialist nurses will aim to respond within 2 working days.

I hope you start to feel better soon.

  • Hello Winship, I am sorry to hear your are in pain. I began the same course of treatment 6 weeks ago but have been given slow release morphine for the pain which has been a great success  However, I developed a throat infection two weeks ago. My white blood cell count was very low but antibiotics cleared it. However Ihave been in hospital for nearly a week after sudden diarrhoea was diagnosed as c diff . I have never felt so ill. Two infections plus other uncomfortable side effects make me wonder about ongoing treatment. Does anyone know the outcomes for omitting the docetaxel and only having the targeted therapy

  • Hello winship , I've had docetaxel but on its own, it works well but it's got a sting in its tail. I was on same meds as you, you will get there, I can understand where your coming from with the constant feeling crap, I'm also taking meds for diarrhoea, life is a bit crappy at the minute, but it will get better when your chemo finisheshang in there, sending a big virtual hug xx

  • Thankyou for your kind words - yes definitely got a sting ! Side effects keep coming - think they’ve gone then something else ! Got 2 more chemo - so hopefully when that finished the immune drugs won’t be as bad and now they are to be given as 1 injection.

    At least pain under control!
