I got referred by the GP on the 25th of March after finding a lump. Hospital appointment a few days later consisted of 4 core biopsies and a marker. Results appointment was made for the 11th of may. I was told the biopsy results were inconclusive and they had booked me in for surgery to have 2 lumps removed the following week on the 20th of may. Went back on weds 11th of may to have magseed put in for the surgery however when the consultant scanned my breast he saw something else and said he wanted me to have a mamogram. Had a mamogram and he said there were calcifications so surgery was postponed and I need to have a vaccum biopsy first to get a diagnosis which is tomorrow.
Its almost 8 weeks since my first appointment and I havnt been told anything....all I have been told is that they dont know if it is benign or cancerous at this stage. Is this acceptable.....I read on the NHS website that there are targets for waiting and treatment times and im going to exceed those.
I understand how frustrating this is Coolpenguin and hope the procedure tomorrow is the last diagnostic step you need to go through. Frustrating as it is, it’s surely better than having one surgery and then finding you need a second operation. Hopefully they will give you a new timetable tomorrow.
