Hi
ILC grade 2 multi focal (clinically node negative)
ER8,PR7,KI67 25% HER2 1+ (found on mammogram and ultrasound)
ER8,PR8,KI67 13% HER2 2+(only discovered on breast MRI and biopsied through MRI)
Both tumors totalling 42mm.
This info is from biopsies.
Surgery was 25/3- good margins achieved, one sentinel node removed.
Tissue sent for Oncotype test on 21/4.
No other printed results received as yet.
Anyone out there gone on to have full node clearance after receiving a result of one positive node?(macrometastes)
Was this the recommendation of your healthcare team or your decision?
How was recovery from this?
Ive seen such a lot of differing treatment, that its beyond confusing and difficult! I know its individual and depends on lots of different factors.
The HER2 2+ result from the second tumor also bothers me, as theres been no discussion re this as yet! I am going to ask if the FISH test has been done for clarity.
I so appreciate any advice from others in this situation or who may have experienced this. Advice on forums has been invaluable!
Hi Karlou
I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum. I had a full node clearance in September 2023 due to having cancer in one of my lymph nodes. It was the recommendation of my breast surgeon and I was happy to go along with it. The node clearance was from my right arm and I've had no problems with the arm since. They recommend that you don't have your blood pressure taken or bloods done on the side from which they take the nodes.
Wishing you the best of luck with whatever further treatment your health care team decide to put you on.
Best wishes
Daisy53
Thanks for your reply!
Did you have any other treatments besides this?
Did you have an oncotype test done?
The surgeon said it was a personal decision. I feel like he will continue me on with radiotherapy next if I dont express a preference.
Thanks again!
Waiting for the results after the operation and determining the treatment tactics is a difficult period, where every nuance is important. Clarification of HER2 2+ status using a FISH test and analysis of the feasibility of lymphodissection require detailed discussion with the medical team. For a second opinion and advice from qualified experts, you can contact CareMount Medical specialists. Patients note a high level of staff training and a comprehensive approach to diagnosis, which helps to understand complex individual therapy protocols.
Thanks!
Ive read this here and there.
Its tricky, as only one node was taken, so its hard to know, for me, if other nodes are also positive.
Radiotherapy was always part of the plan, followed by hormone therapy.
Waiting oncotype results to confirm next treatment.
Hi Karlou, i had one sentinel node taken when I had my right side mastectomy. The node was positive. I was initially told I would need clearance but they checked the makeup of my results from the research project I had agreed to participate in and they told me clearance wasn't needed. My treatment plan did then have to include chemo as well as radio. I have now been told this will also include immunotherapy and transfusions. Not sure if I would have needed all this if I had had the clearance. From the replies it definitely seems like everyone has their own bespoke experience. Good luck on your journey.
