Morning all. Spent last night feeling low and confused. Apologies if this is a long one. Had a mastectomy in December. Pathology showed spread to sentinel node in Jan. Started chemo in Feb. Picked up an infection after first round and was diagnosed with acute diverticulitis. Lesion found on liver. MRI in March on liver. Got results yesterday and the lesion is a benign cyst. However the MRI did pick up possible precancerous cysts in the pancreas so I will need another MRI on that. Feeling like this journey is never ending. The oncologist asked if I'd heard from the gastric team, which I haven't and she said I'd have to wait and hear from them as its not her department. I'm feeling really lost right now and dont know who to talk to about it as i have no contacts for the gastric team. I have a sigmoidoscopy for the diverticulitis once the breast cancer treatment is done but yesterday the oncologist said I would need radiotherapy (expected), immunotherapy and transfusions. Very overwhelmed. Mostly worried now about the pancreas as that's a whole different ball game.
Hello Sansa35c942
I am really sorry to read your post and to see how much you are going through. No wonder you are overwhelmed and worried as it seems like one thing after another after another for you.
I don't think there will be too many ladies around who will have the experience to offer any advice, but I do feel that a telephone call to the Macmillan team will certainly be a good thing for you emotionally.
Please do give them a call and get some support from them. Telephone: 0808 808 00 00
Kindest wishes, Lesley
Hi Sansa35c942
So sorry you're going through this - it makes me so cross that medics can leave us with this sort of information but nowhere to go with the worries about it. "I'd have to wait" - easier said than done.
Following breast cancer surgery, I had an appointment with ENT for a bleeding throat (referred before BC diagnosis). ENT Consultant took one look and was not reassuring at all, he sent me for MRI head and neck which kept getting cancelled because of two BC surgeries. Hung over me for months and literally left dangling with no support. I was convinced I had a new cancer or it had spread and when I finally got the ENT MRI it was just acid reflux changes and a cyst.
I just wanted to say I understand and sympathise with what you're going through. It's an absolutely horrid time. Our minds need to be looked after just as much as our bodies, and I do wish all doctors would remember this. Hoping your pancreas cysts turn out to be nothing. I told my breast care nurse how worried I was and she kindly rang ENT and sorted out an earlier scan, that made me feel at least someone was listening to me.
Sending love x
