I'm lisa, hi all!

My story so far.....

First breat cancer diagnosis 2016, lumpectomy and radiotherapy followed by tamoxifen daily...2nd diagnosis same breast 2023, mastectomy of left breast chemo, and 6 monthly infusions for 3 years and anastrozole tablet daily, full hysterectomy also ovaries needed to go!!...3rd diagnosis secondary Boney mets in spine....this is where the fun begins....plan, chemo weekly for 12 weeks, I am on week 8 and I have only had 1 round of chemo....my haemoglobin and platelet levels keep dropping 5+  blood transfusions later and still no chemo....

Has anyone experienced this,I feel like I'm going round in circles

I am having some target radiotherapy for pain, my pain is mainly in my legs which effects my mobility

Gabapentin and MST amitrptyline plus orimorph for break through pain,

Can't remember the last time I slept through the night ..

I want my life back!!

  • Hi

I’m Anne, one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community, and it sounds like you're going through a really tough time right now.

As you know, the online community is divided into different support groups so I'm going to recommend that you also join and post in the secondary breast cancer group as you'll then connect directly with others whose breast cancer has spread and who may have had similar experiences.

To join, just click on the link I've created and, once you've joined, you can start a new post in the same way as you did here and join in with existing conversations by clicking on 'reply'.

  • Hi Lisa,  I am sorry to hear about the horrible time you are having.  I had breast cancer in 2013 aged 47.  Had lumpectomy, chemo and radiotherapy followed by tamoxifen.  2024 Diagnosed with secondary breast cancer with extensive bone mets.  I find it strange that the treatments are so different.  This time around no chemo just exemastane, ribociclib and denosumab.  I also had radiotherapy for one of the tumors in my spine.  Gabapentin and amitrptyline are for nerve pain I think.  I have pain in hips, back etc.  I wonder why the treatments are so different?  Sending you hugs.

  • Hi Lee,(lisa)

Nice to hear from you, (bloody cancer!!)

I started with back pain back in July, steadily got worse, ended up having a CT and MRI via A&E, doctor didn't do much except an xray which showed an unexplained fracture,he referred me to orthopedics? Blood test showed low haemoglobin and I needed a transfusion, platelets lower to....was to start weekly chemo but because my platelets are not playing ball, no chemo,so plan c is tamoxifen, not sure why as I had a hysterectomy to get rid of the old ovaries...

The 2 lots of breast cancer I felt were straight forward  treatment wise but this is blowing my mind,

Did the radiotherapy help? I'm starting next week for 5 days....

    • Sending hugs your way Hugging
