I have been diagnosed with breast cancer grade 3 HERS positive and have had MRI scans and PET scan. Having to wait 2 weeks for results and plan and am absolutely scared stiff especially as it’s a grade 3. Can anyone offer any advice as how to get through this. Every moment is a struggle.

  • For someone who is a nervous wreck most of the time during this journey i found the advice 'take one day at a time' and 'keep busy doing nice enjoyable things or giving yourself a treat every now and again' really did help me.
writing or keeping a journal of your thoughts is also a good release during this time.

i was stage 3 after they initially told me grade zero!!

But once you have a plan in place you will be cared for very well and I find the waiting the hardest out of everything.

Sending a hug and best wishes xx

  • Hi Tilly3

Welcome to the forum, I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum.  I was diagnosed with grade 3 triple negative breast cancer nearly 6 years ago and after having treatment I made a full recovery.  I did get another breast cancer less than two years later was grade 2, however again after having treatment I made a full recovery and remain cancer free.

As Jax said, take things one day at a time and think about writing a journal.  If you have a Maggie's centre or another cancer centre near you call in or give them a ring and you will find them very helpful.  You could also give the Macmillan helpline a ring on 0808 808 0000 to talk to someone how you are feeling, they can arrange counselling for you if you'd like.

Wishing you the best of luck with whatever treatment your medical team decides to put you on.

    Best wishes

  • I also have grade 3 cancer, ER/PR+, HER2-. Waiting was an absolute nightmare, especially after axillary lymph node clearance. Once I knew the bastard is in the lymph nodes, I didn't know what to expect. I know it will be hard but find a distraction. I found myself reading books and walking helped me. Also, being realistic or more pessimistic helped me. I'd rather be prepared for the worst and be later pleasantly surprised. Lo and behold, PET scan was clean! I cried from joy the whole day :) Fingers crossed x

  • Mine is in lymph nodes too so makes it more scary as already spread. Thank you for your kind words. Xx
