  • Hi

I have also had chemotherapy and immunotherapy (pembrolizumab) for TNBC and am here to tell the tale. Just before I started treatment we had decided to put down new wood flooring in our lounge and dining room. We had the contents of both rooms packed up and put in storage whilst the work was done. We then had decorators in before we were able to put everything back together. So I spent about 5 weeks with a choice of garden furniture (if nice enough), the breakfast room, or my bed. Horrible times but it looked lovely when it was done.

I never needed a sick bowl. I did sometimes need drugs to stop diarrhoea and I did use a special cream to protect my nails. Keeping hydrated is important. I also found it helpful to keep a symptom diary to enable me to plan a bit.

If anything unusual happens, do contact the 24 hour number you have been given. Chemo side effects will settle into a predictable pattern but if immunotherapy causes an issue it can come on suddenly. Immunotherapy issues usually need treating with steroids and it’s important to get help quickly.
