Hi, at "High Noon" today I have my post op review and get results from the path lab with my lovely Consultant.
I had wide local excision with total node removal on 4th March 2026.
I know I had 2 X different cancers, Aggressive Lobular - which had spread to lymph nodes and a simple dcis.
However with the lymph node removal I have developed a large seroma under my armpit - I am hoping the consultant and nurses will deal with it for me because it is causing me sleep problems and is uncomfortable.
I also expect my lovely Consultant to tell me I need chemotherapy plus radiotherapy.
Hopefully I will be determined and strong enough to manage to cope with these.
Will report back after my review.
Gentle hugs to everybody.
Update:- I am in a state of shock! Sooo the main aggressive Lobular cancer was only 1.7 centimeters but that had spread to lymph nodes because so very aggressive!
The number of cancerous lymph nodes were 23 out of 25!!!
I am so very very lucky it had not spread.
The other "simple dcis cancer" was a lot smaller.
The removal of the cancer's was successful with clear margins.
The large seroma under my arm needs to be left to clear because if the clinical team put a needle / lance it then infection may be introduced and my consultant wants to avoid that.
My appointment with the medical Consultant Oncologist is on 7th April.
My lovely Breast Care Nurse explained they are throwing absolutely everything at me because of the aggressive cancer and number of lymph nodes which were affected!
I still can't get my head around the number of lymph nodes which were cancerous - I have been sooo very very lucky it did not spread to my organs!
Gentle hugs everybody xx
Hi Rusty53x
Glad you have your results at last. Sounds like you have a great team, good that they are ‘throwing everything at it’ and very positive to have clear margins all round.
Hope the seroma sorts itself out quickly so that you feel more comfortable. I had a very large haematoma after my wide local excision, the nurses kept an eye on it and it gradually resolved. Apparently it’s better if these things can reabsorb of their own accord, if possible.
Also good that your lymph nodes did their job by stopping the cancer at that point!
Good luck with your oncologist appointment on the 7th. Love and hugs, HFxx
I am 11 days from surgery and I'm confused I think. I'm considering moving the security cameras from outside into my bedroom. I need to find out why I go to bed feeling OK. Then I wake up feeling like some one has been swinging me round by my arm. This morning someone has piled stones on my chest. Coughing is a no no. The electric shocks to my non-existent nipples I now have under control.
Maybe if I got a coffin and go to sleep and not be able to move. OH says I'm always asleep flat on my back but I'm not convinced.
I find myself wishing to go back 20 years to the last time I had full node clearance. Then I was in hospital for 6 days. The BC nurse did home visits every day for the first week.
Ah well I'll treat every day as it comes. Today is not a day for bread making!
Love to all in the same confusion.
Three times! What did I do?
Its tough trying to cope at home when post op symptoms are difficult and painful. I had mastectomy and recon initially in 2004. 7 day hospital stay and in my own room. It was NHS! I felt really well looked after.
Fast forward to 2025 recurrence in same boob. Day surgery lumpectomy, capsulectomy, cavity shave and implant replacement and nodes removed. I was last on the list so Surgery was late and was still in pain at 9pm but they still wanted to send me home. I had a melt down so they kept me overnight and I was sent home 9am next morning.
The after care has got so much worse and while I understand that if its a straight forward lumpectomy folk may well prefer to be at home with family but I live on my own and it was so difficult.
Nobody looked under my clothes from the day I had surgery to seeing the breast care nurse a week later. Anything could have been going on. As it was one drain hasn't been working properly. I had brought it up twice but been dismissed.
I had surgery on the 18 th March. I see a doctor on the 15th April that seems a long time to find out what has been done. Meanwhile I do my exercises and take the painkillers and wait.
