Hi All
I had my surgery 3 weeks ago which was a Lumpectomy and Axcillary Node Clearance. I saw my consultant for the results and he told me it was more advanced than first thought. He didn't get clear margins and of the 19 Lymph Nodes he removed all of them had Cancer in so they gave now upgraded it to Stage 3. Tomorrow I have to have a CT Scan to see if it has spread and then they want Chemo to start straight away before they go back to the brest to get clear margins.
I am terrified that the CT Scan is going to show it has spread, I feel like I have been given a diagnosis all over again as now I may not be facing just Breast Cancer.
I'm trying to stay positive and not think the worst but the odds are against me when all the nodes contained Cancer
Hi, whilst I have not started my treatment, I received biopsy results.
I was told I have Lobular which has gone to lymph nodes.
As a result I had to have urgent Mammogram with contrast plus CT Scan with contrast. Then I had to have a nuclear bone scan.
I have never ever felt so scared.
However, after all the prodding, poking, needles, images etc, I was told:-
My Lobular has been upgraded to Grade 3
I also have a second lump l different type cancer in the same breast which is Grade 2.
All lymph nodes will be taken because some are malignant
My CT Scan with contrast showed no organs have been affected
My nuclear bone scan showed no bones have been affected
Whilst I know that you are scared (like I was), and perhaps my case is not like yours, after all every person is different, I just want to give you a little bit of hope.
I think that perhaps you should ask your breast care nurse or consultant if maybe a full mastectomy should be done given you have been left with "no clear margins"!
I think the scary bit is the "unknown" of "will the scans show the cancer has spread"?
That is the worst fear - however in order to find out you need to grab every little bit of strength you can find - grit your teeth and get the scan done. Once it is done you will receive your results quite quickly.
I sincerely hope your results show nothing but I would definitely ask the team looking after you if you could have a mastectomy because they didn't get clear margins.
Gentle hugs to you xx
