I am 2.5 months in to letrozole and really struggling with the hot flushes at night and aches and stiffness. Mainly the hot flushes at night as it's impacting sleep so much. I started acupucture with a traditional chinese practitioner that I have used previously for other issues and sometimes I'm ok for a day or 2 after then symptoms return. I have had 8 or 9 @ £85 a session and not feeling it's helping enough for what it is costing me. A friend had acupucture where the needles go in the ears, my practitioner said she doesn't work that way. I wondered if anyone had success with acupuncture while on Letrozole and how they treated it. My acupuncturist thinks I should come off Letrozole as it's working against what she is trying to do. (answer was no.....)

Hi. I’ve just come across your post and hope you see my reply as your message was a little while ago. I have been having acupuncture to help manage the pain in my joints, poor sleep, hot flushes and overall fatigue and it has been a game changer for me. The sessions are delivered at my hospital by my care team. Most sessions I have approx 35-40 needles placed at various points on my body. I’ve found this has really helped me to manage the side effects of my medication. Perhaps ask your care team for a recommendation as Chinese acupuncture may take a slightly different approach to western techniques. I wish more people going through treatment knew about the benefits of acupuncture- it has really helped me although I appreciate everyone responds differently.
Hi, I had some acupuncture. The Macmillan centre at my hospital provided 6 sessions free of charge. If you have a local Macmillan centre or a Maggie centre I would suggest you talk to them.
It would give you a chance to try a different practitioner and maybe other different therapies. The thing that helped me most was aqua aerobics which I still do 5 times a week.
Since posting this ive moved to a different acupuncturist who works at mcmiklan and does NADA protocol. Ive also started in anastrozole as the pain and stiffness has become unbearable. I do feel the hot flushes are improving which is great - ive had 5 sessions so far.
