FAST- Forward Boost trial?

I saw the clinical oncologist on Friday to discuss radiotherapy which will likely begin in late Feb or early March once I've finished chemo.

I will need the boost treatment and the Dr gave me some info about this clinical trial - FAST-Forward Boost. I will hopefully have a chat with the trial nurse but I wondered if anyone in this group is doing it and how you are finding it?

Thanks!

  • Hello

I am Brian one of the Community Champions here on the Online Community. I have just noticed your post has gone unanswered, I can't answer it myself as i have a different cancer, however by me replying your post will be "bumped up" to the top of the page and I hope seen and answered by other members of the breast cancer group.

All I can say about clinical trials, apart from it's great to be part of research is that during the trial you do have priority access to your team and the treatment which in this day and age is never a bad thing.

I wish you will with you personal journey.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi LZC16,

i have just had a boost treatment via the fast forward trail a couple of weeks ago. I got randomised into the 5 days with the higher boost dose. So far I haven’t had any real side effects except I had quite a bit of discomfort this week in the area where they did the boost treatment. I had initial swelling and redness but that seems to be settling. Breast pain seems to be the main effect so far

how did your radiotherapy go? What group were you randomised into and did you have any side effects?

has anyone else had a boost treatment with Radiothrapt over 5 days? I’m a little worried about the long term side effects.
