Hi all, is anyone on this medication? I’m pretty reluctant to start on it, I’ve read up on the potential side effects. I’ve been on Zoladronic acid infusions for over two years, but a recent dexa scan showed only a 2% increase in spine density and a minus % in both hips. Would love to hear others people’s  experiences of the drugs. I had a lumpectomy in June 2023 and I’ve been on Letrozole since then. I already had osteoporosis and I imagine Letrozole is having a detrimental effect. I’m not sure what to accept next. Thank you for any replies, I hope your cancer journey is going well.

  • Hi, whilst I'm on letrozole and zoledronic acid, I'm not on denosumab so I'm sorry I can't help you. But I just noticed your post hasn’t had any replies yet and it's dropped a few pages as the site is quite busy.  My response will bump you back up to the top and I hope someone with the right experience will be along soon to answer you. Best wishes

  • That’s so kind of you, thanks. It would be good to have first hand feedback. It’s the unknown which poses the biggest challenge. Best wishes to you too.

  • Hi Optimistic,  I am on denosumab and have been since December 24 so about 11 months.  I dont seem to have had any side effects with this.  I am on exemastane and adcal for my bones.  So I wouldnt worry too much hopefully yours will be side effect free too.  Big hugs.

  • Thanks Lee, I’m waiting for a phone call to discuss this with the consultant. I have no obvious side effects with letrozole, or had any with the zoladronic acid infusions. I’m still trying hard to stay optimistic on this cancer journey. I’ve had lung, skin and breast cancer, have to keep on fighting. Thanks and a big hug from me.

  • Hi Optimistic, yes we just have to keep on fighting.  I had breast cancer in 2012 and had surgery, chemo, radiotherapy and then tamoxifen for five years.  Skin cancer five years ago.  Diagnosed with secondary breast cancer last year with mets in most of my bones including pelvis, spine, ribs and skull.  I am enjoying my life and also staying positive but it has been hard.  Good luck.
