Hi all, first post. I had a lumpectomy and sentinel biopsy 3 weeks ago, then second surgery for margins plus nipple removal 3 days ago. My question is, am I messing up the shape of my breast with my bra? I have the M&S post surgery compression bras (I'm an A cup), but my breast looks very elliptical with the bruising. I have bruising above where the nipple used to be and under my arm. I'm really paranoid that something I'm doing is making it a weird shape, but is it too early to tell? My consultant saw it on and was focused on the good compression, but do I need to adjust it in any way, or are there more shapely compression bras out there? It's obviously still very sore to be hauling and pulling at.
Big hugs to you all.
Hi, I wore the M&S bra's 24 hours per day for quite a while after surgery for support ( and still do when not going out as they are soo comfy). I had a lumpectomy 28mm and sentenial nodes re moved, then a re-excision, so a total of 40mm removed. I found that massaging my boob gently with moisturiser once healed was helpful, and whilst one boob is a bit smaller than the other, they kept their shape pretty well ( apart from a bit of loss of volume in one area, more noticeable when i lift my arm up). Im a DD cup tho. Then after RT i massaged 2 or 3 times per day with the flamigel provided and have continued to since, 3 months on with aloe vera gel.
I have found that regular bras dig in at my scar, and am planning to go to a specialist bra shop to try and find a non wired supportive bra that looks nice ( might be tall order lol).
Maybe your shape looks a bit different due to having your nipple removed. You can get stick on one's ( once you've healed) and they might visually give you a slightly different shape/perspective. But dont forget that its still early days for you yet xx
Hi, I used a combination of M&S non wired surgery bras during the day and then a softer light crop top style bra for sleeping as this was more comfy. Maybe that's something to consider. Best wishes
