Hi all

in  June 2022 I was given a diagnosis of DCIS which I had removed and followed in with radiotherapy, however in Dec 2024 it came back in the same breast,in March 25 I underwent surgery a DIEP Flap surgery which to date has went well, however of late I have noticed that my tummy is still swollen and can be a bit hard/uncomfortable at times,I still carry on with the light exercise given and my consultant advised this is normal can take 6months to heal internally, has anyone had this experience and can advise how to ease the tummy issue ??

  • Thank you for you help..maybe I am the only one that has experienced this after this surgery everyone and theirs bodies are different which I fully understand,or maybe someone has had something similar and can advise too

  • Hi, my surgery was in July and I still find that my tummy is often tight and hard. I’m still under the physio and she has been using ‘cupping’ on it which I have found very helpful. It might be worth trying. I’ve also found regular walking everyday helps - it’s worse when I’m sitting around a lot. Good luck, I hope it eases soon for you x

  • I wasn’t told about physio but maybe everyone is different I was given a leaflet ref the exercises which are good ..yes my tummy is often hard and tight I have found if I do too much it tightens quickly too plus if am eating too much lol which is probably a good sign..I tried a lymphatic drainage massage while I enjoyed this I found headaches were not pleasant afterwards..I am due back into work next week maybe this will help too ..thank you for your comments and good luck with your recovery Grin
