Hi all

Hope everyone is doing the best they can

Had my first TC chemo yesterday

Didn't go too bad felt ok for.most part and the team were so lovely.

Had a bit a of whirring in my head so didn't sleep very well and had a bit of a headache this morning Also a touch a dizziness which resolved once I got up and drunk loads.

Scalp is a bit tender and irritated so I shaved the last of my hair off (had kept a sweeping fringe to ease the loss in) and by doing that the weight removal has eased that feeling.

But the worst side effect - I've developed chemo sweat and i feel like I stink!

I know i need to drink etc to flush it out

Anyone else had this and found any miracle or products to help lessen the smell?

Or is it only me that can smell the smell?

Physio gonna get a shock if it isnt at my appointment at the end of the week!

Oh also top tip take a carrier bag to first chemo, I had my bag of stuff (blanket etc) and then had no room for all the meds, book and sharps box they gave to me.

Luckily the onsite WHSmith's had a bag for life!

Right enough of my gabbering

Take care all

Mimi

  • I didn’t feel I stank of chemical sweat in the first couple of days after an EC infusion but did think that fresh tap water tasted of chemical waste and it was horrible making myself drink to clear my system. I did however feel like I stank of particularly rank sewage as my guts were very stagnant indeed- improved after about day 4… Sorry if t m i.
For me paclitaxel was much easier to tolerate from the point of view of not going around with the feeling that I was emitting a nauseating stench!

All the best with this xxx

  • Thanks for the reply

Im trying to drink loads and yes have noticed most things have a new tang to them.

I think im noticing it because ive always been a bit paranoid with smell of BO as a quite sweaty person (sorry tmi)

  • I’ve just had my second of four TC rounds. It wqsn’t great. I reacted to the cold cap being too tight, which was quite unpleasant.

Today us day 3 post chemo. Still feeling washed out but have managed a few small tasks. My tongue tingles quite badly. I noticed it a few days afyer my first, but not as obviously. Quite off-putting. I felt rough in day 1, but slept a lot. Day 2 was better, but I’m finding the emotional side of it completely overwhelming this time.

I’d noticed my hair starting to shed more about 5 days before round 2, but from treatment day on it has thinned noticeably. So hard to face. It is thin on the crown and above my ears, so trying to hide the crown by putting it up only shows the bare bits by my ears! My wig is ordered but with a bank holiday too, heaven knows when it will arrive. And it is half term with the kids and we’d been trying to find stuff to do, but now I don’t want to go out at all.

I haven’t noticed any smell though (getting back to topic). The cat isn’t avoiding me as I’d expected but also not very keen on cuddles (but he’s stressed due to foxes in ‘his’ garden!) atm. I did get bitten by an insect - I hope it is suffering from the chemo too!! Wink

I’m hating it! If it worsens with each one, as it seems to have done this time, I’m going to be be wiped out by number four, and so depressed.
