Some of you will have seen previous posts when I took the informed decision to refuse chemo but went ahead with lumpectomy and radiotherapy.
Well today I finished radiotherapy . I have been so lucky, apart from a seroma after lumpectomy, which was uncomfortable, not sore, and I had it drained I have been really good. A bit fatigued but nothing I couldn’t cope with.
Radiotherapy so far has been fine. 5 sessions full breast and 4 sessions on tumour site. Apart from a boob which I’m sure glows in the dark and feels like a hot water bottle up my blouse no side effects, although they have said over the next couple of weeks I may feel fatigue taking over. But it’s a may be not a definate so fingers crossed.
I’m now not due to go back for a year, unless I feel unwell or develop other symptoms.
I can’t thank the NHS staff enough, from the surgeon to the oncologist to the nurses and radiotherapy team all been amazing.
From the start of my cancer journey on 29 April when I found lump, to 14 May when I had scan & biopsy, 28 May confirmed cancer, Lumpectomy 4 July , radiotherapy 1-11 September I can’t fault any of the timescales or treatment.
to anyone still going through the journey I wish you all the best and hope that your experience is as good as mine.
