Hi! I’m due to start on ricociclib in a couple of weeks after my information session with a breast care nurse. I am currently on Letrozole as well. Having read the list of possible side effects I’m a bit apprehensive. Is there someone on here who is on the same treatment who is willing to share their experiences?

  • Hi Riamdd5081 sorry to hear of your diagnosis.  Have you had treatment for breast cancer or is this prior to you having treatment.  I have never heard of it being prescribed before treatment but perhaps it is something new.  Do you have primary or secondary breast cancer?  I have been on Ribociclib since December 24.  I have secondary breast cancer with bone mets in most of my bones.  I am on Ribociclib, Exemastane  (as did not get on with Letrozole) and denosumab injections for the bones.  I have not been too bad with side effects other than bad rash.  You have to be careful as the Ribo does effect your immune system.  Saying that I still do the same things as I normally do, shopping, pubs , meals out etc.  Please let me know if there is anything I can help with.  Take care.

  • Hi Lee

Thanks for your reply. I’ve had surgery, chemo and radiotherapy for Stage 2 cancer so the letrizole and Ribociclib is preventative treatment as I am at risk of it returning.  Was just a bit daunted by the list of possible side effects and don’t know anyone who’s on Ribociclib.

  • Hi Riamdd5081  there are certainly a lot of ladies with primary breast cancer who are on Ribociclib.  There is a whole thread on the Breast Cancer Now website for it.  Yes the list of side effects is very daunting and I think I have been lucky because not found side effects too bad.  Are you going to be on it for five years?  I don't think it has been available on the NHS for long for use with primary breast cancer but it does apparently have a good success rate.  Fingers crossed it keeps the sh...y cancer away x

  • Hi

will be on it for 3 years. It’s only been available on NHS since July so I am fortunate that way. And yes, fingers crossed it works!!!
