I’m hoping to get away for a short break abroad between chemo and lumpectomy. Has anyone had any experience in getting travel insurance to cover you immediately following chemo? If so did you find it straightforward, need doctors letters etc and which were the best insurance companies? Trying to have something to look forward to to get me through the next couple of months.

Depending on which pathway I follow, I will continue on Phesgo or switch to Kadcyla  post surgery and I was wondering again how people felt on these regimes and again whether people felt generally well enough/have enough immunity to get in short breaks away between the 3 weekly treatments.

It would help me mentally to know that I am not completely stuck here for up to 16 months and could have a little break away at some point to feel in some way “normal”. Any advice is appreciated.

  • Hi I have just got back from Turkey. Finished chemo in February but found out just after we booked the holiday that the cancer has come back so stage four.

we used holiday safe and they was brilliant, only cost 64 pounds and didn’t need to show anything just make sure you declare everything. Did take a while on the phone but I wanted to make sure everything was declared.
I started the chemo tablets when I got back so not sure if that made a difference but they knew it was now classed as incurable.
I rang a couple before and they quoted 1500!

Hope that’s of some help. My friend is also on same pathway it seems as yours and she paid 400 for a yearly claim so can go as many times as she wants to go away a lot!
    good luck x

  • We went away shortly after  finished my chemo/radiotherapy. We got a pan-European cover for a year for £75 but i think the rate is discounted because we have car insurance with them.  In our research it was much cheaper to get cover that doesn’t include the US.

    Safe travels x
