I finished Abemaciclib in Jan 25 and have been taking letrazole throughout the same 2 yrs I was on Abemaciclib. Weirdly since I finished Abemaciclib I seem to have struggled with terrible joint pain, brain fog, skin changes, emotional etc. I never had these while i was taking Abemaciclib. Just wondered if anyone else has noticed this?
Ah! I don’t know obvs, but I took letrozole mid December to end April 2024 with very few side effects. Then following recovery from node clearance and then radiotherapy throughout March I started the abemaciclib at the end of April. I’m 16 months in to the two years of that. There are symptoms which are definitely abemaciclib, mouth throat sinus eyes and guts, but some which could be either…
Ive been hoping that once I’ve done with the abemacilib, some of the aching, mood etc which I didn’t have before will lift. But we’re all different and react in different ways. ♀️
I am interested to hear how people get on towards the end of abemaciclib and after. I’m finding it a grind just now, but due to change down to 100mg in September.Given the choice at last 12 week review and regretting a bit that I didn’t make it then!
I hope it’s not too bad now with the letrozole for you, or maybe a discussion about another AI lies ahead.
All the very best, xx
I’m not sure if it has anti inflammatory effects, I’ll try to remember to ask the oncology pharmacist on Sept 11th at next review.
It’s difficult to tell with some effects as you’re never on abemaciclib without an AI, but when it’s done you stay on the AI. I had more than 4 months on the letrozole before getting started with abemaciclib, but I don’t know how just letrozole would have turned out in the longer run. It was giving me hot flushes, that was all, but may have gone on to contribute to the muscle aches, skin, hair and nail issues and partial return of the post paclitaxel neuropathy. The neuropathy had improved considerably, but has now got a bit worse- not nearly as bad though!
I don’t have joint pain either - one thing is for sure though I fervently hope to feel better overall once I’m just taking the letrozole!
It seems harsh for Joanne to have more symptoms after stopping the abemaciclib.
All the best to you with the abemaciclib snd beyond!
