Hi All,
I posted in here previously about the wait for my triple assessment breast clinic appointment.
I had my appointment today and I feel so relieved!
The consultant Mr Dordea at Hartlepool was so kind and gentle, he was smiley too which I liked. I feel like that's just the type of person you need dealing with you on such a scary day.
He examined me and circled 3 areas.
I then went to breast screening and had an ultrasound. The two lumps in my left breast were completely normal glandular tissue which is great.
The lump in my right breast which is what I had found initially 2 weeks ago, was scanned. The sonographer said it looked like a fibroadenoma but she would scan it to be sure in line with hospital policy.
My biopsy was painless, and was so relaxing throughout thankfully.
When I went back to see Mr Dordea he explained that my results would be back within 2-3 weeks and that it would be discussed at MDT also once my results are back.
I asked him "in your professional opinion having looked at my imaging do you think it is sinister". He said he cannot for sure as the scan was inconclusive so we will need to wait for the biopsy to come back to give definitive answers, but he said he would take me to his office and show me my scans so I could understand better.
He showed me a picture of a well defined round oval lump mostly, then pointed to the bottom right hand corner of the lump where it was a lighter grey and stuck out of the side almost like a tiny iceberg on top of an oval.
He said this all looks like a typical fibroadenoma. But this part here looks different which is why we have biopsied it.
Like most, I have analysed and picked apart all of the appointment! I feel like the consultant was completely unsure of what it was, and I have read so many posts where people have said they were told we are more than positive its a fibroadenoma but need to biopsy to be sure. But that wasn't said to me today, which left me feeling like maybe he hadn't wanted to say too much as the scan was confusing.
Got another long wait ahead for results. Can anyone tell me if they have had similar to above? I'd love to hear from you even if not similar, about how long you waited for biopsy results and what you were told at your breast clinic appointment regarding what they thought it may be.
Thanks in advance xx
Hi KJB1384
I'm Daisy53 one of the Community Champions on this forum. After having surgery for breast cancer in my right breast they did a CT scan as they found cancer in one of my lymph nodes they discovered a small lump in my left breast. As a result I had to have a Mammogram and an ultrasound. The person who did the ultrasound had a good look at the lump as he wasn't sure if it was a lump or scar tissue from having a lumpectomy two years before for a different breast cancer. After having a good look he biopsied it given my previous history and unfortunately it turned out to be a recurrence. I had to have another operation to remove the lump. That was nearly two years ago and I've been cancer free since then.
Wishing you the best of luck with your results and hopefully it won't turn out to be breast cancer but if it does breast cancer is very treatable.
Best wishes
Daisy53
