I had a picc line put in my left arm and my first dose of paclitaxel last Monday. I am having weekly chemo for grade 3 invasive ductal cancer with lymph node involvement. I have been feeling ok since first session but have been getting pain in my left shoulder and upper chest/neck area, it is not all the time and is eased with paracetamol and warm compresses, I am just paranoid that it means the picc line has moved and is not in the right place, has anyone else had this?
Hi Puppyfish welcome to the forum and glad to hear that treatment is underway for you. I'm.thinking they will have given you a number to call for the chemo team or centre and they may be the best people to answer this for you. Don't sit and get anxious give them a call and get some reassurance for you. Best wishes Gail x
Just to back this up, definitely call the breast care team or your emergency out of hours number, its most likely to be the picc line settling in, I found it to be very strange at first and within a couple of weeks it was fine but anything like this, you’re not being silly getting it checked out so don’t feel embarrassed or like you’re making a fuss, just ring and get proper advice. If you find that when you ring, because it’s out of hours it’s been bounced to A&E and they’re not sure don’t worry, just insist they contact your consultant or team to get back to you, Macmillan’s helpline is also great for advice and help, you can usually get through to a nurse. All the best x
