Hi, I have 3 sessions left and my entire armpit is a shade of ugly grey, and the skin is painfully tight. My skin hasn’t gone red but the T scar under my breast has thickened to an ugly shade of deep brown with lots of flecks and spots of brown areas. The skin there also has this painful streching feeling.
I also got a ton of brown spots of all sizes right below the breast and I hope these don’t turn into skin cancer.
I‘m terrified my armpit might crack open. I rub a tone of radiation ointment, aquaphor, and other stuff around three times a day to keep the skin moist.
what happens after this stage? Does it get worse? Does it peel? Does it ever fade?
I‘ve got one very dark armpit and one very light one. I look hilarious.
Anyone else get a grey armpit?. I didn’t even get cancer in the lymph nodes, no idea why the radiation when so far up?
Also does armpit hair ever grown back? That’s one thing I can live with.
17. Today it’s pretty painful. I hope my skin doesn’t break open.
They’ve been giving me high doses because of my age.
Gosh that's quite a lot. I find out in a couple of weeks how many I will need. I wonder if I can do anything in advance to help try and avoid similar issues. Could deodorant have reacted with the radiotherapy at all? The booklet I have says it is fine to keep it on during the treatment, but I think I might not.
I’ve been using deodorant too. But since yesterday, I stopped. I also stopped using Aquaphor and just use pure Aloe Vera and Panthenol as I think the thicker emollients trap the heat instead of leaving the skin breath.
Yes, I'd think the thicker and oilier creams might just help the skin/tissue to fry a bit, and as you say-not breathe.
I opted out of using Aquaphor as live in Florida and cannot stand that all over my chest. have you thought of using Avene Cicalfate. Wonderful and healing.

It was wonderful and I used it as my moisturizer all throughout radiation. Had 16 treatments to both and then a boost of 5 extra to right breast. I have super sensitive skin with history of eczema so was very worried but did great. Very slight pinkish red but did great. I was so worried about my skin not tolerating it.
Take care and so nice when treatment is done. I have 2 more years of aromatase inhibitors and to me can’t come too soon. My skin hates being without estrogen and so itchy from lack of it. I can’t complain though as feeling strong and healthy overall.
Take it easy.
