Op pencilled in

I had a lumpectomy and SLNB so can only comment on my experience of that type of surgery. I didn’t experience any pain after my operation. I was bruised and uncomfortable for a bit, but never in actual pain and only took paracetamol for a day or two. x

My experience was similar to Eebee ‘s. 
I have had 5 operations in the last 5 years - 3 for my cancer (w2 of these on my liver) plus 2 hip replacements. This was the easiest by a long long way. 

I had a total of three surgeries a lumpectomy plus another two to tidy up problematic marginal cells.  I didn't find any of these particularly painful, I slept perfectly well with the little underarm pillow they give you.  The surgery did eradicate the cancer, but I had prophylactic chemo thereafter which was not a lot of fun I grant you.  But hopefully the surgery will suffice.

I have now had 3 breast operations.  (I had not had anything requiring a general anaesthetic before.)  The operations were Wide Local Excision, revision of said excision (that rhymes!) and mastectomy.

I got by with just paracetamol afterwards, although I did have some (pharmacy strength) cocodamol on hand.  They did prescribe the stronger cocodamol, but even the pharmacy type often makes me nauseated.

Last autumn, I had a problem with a broken filling.  Earlier this year, I had a problem with stress-related TMJ (temporo-mandible joint) pain.  Those experiences were both significantly more painful than the breast surgery.

Everyone is different though.
