Biopsy results today. Breast cancer in both breasts n lymph node. No treatment plan as receptors not back. Call tomorrow hopefully with plan. Said it was treatable.
Told my son and friends. Now just sat here. I am 50 in July
Thats it
Hello, just want to give you a hug and wish you good luck on your journey. I am nearly 5 years since main treatment finished. I have about 3 months left on aromatase inhibitors then finished. I am 25 2years older than you my advice is take all the help and support offered. Be kind to yourself. Use this forum and if there is a Macmillan centre near you use it. They give advice, have group get toge
ers, give free sessions of things like acupuncture and best of all look good work shops. If you can take someone with you to your medical appointments, they will hear things and remember things you
ght miss or forget. It's also nice just to have the company.
I was trying to send you a 4 leaf clover to sign off but they randomly went across the message
Thankyou. I've kept myself busy and had friends round. Doesn't feel real , probably in shock.
Thank you for rhe advice
It's such a shock, but this is the worst time. Once you have a treatment plan and it gets going, you will cope. My daughter was 45 when diagnosed. It has been a long, hard two years but treatment is finally over and scans show 'no cause for concern'.
Trust your medical team. They're highly skilled and will want the very best outcome for you. Ask questions - nothing is too trivial. Take it one day at a time and you'll get through this.
Sending love and a big hug. xx
Hi. I'm so sorry for you and your family are joining our club. I'm marginally further on than you as I have most of my rest results, a rough plan of attack and my 1st oncology meeting tomorrow. Hopefully to discuss my chemo timetable.
Take your time and get used to the idea and then read. Read. And read some more. Get a list of questions for yourself, your family and most importantly your medical team.
Try and take someone with you as they'll hear & remember things that fly past you. Maybe record the conversations on your phone? But you need to ask their permission first. My solicitor daughter took loads of notes and asked some questions I hadn't thought of.
Good luck
I remember that feeling so well. I was diagnosed in Mid October 2024 when I was 51 and no matter how much they say it is treatable all you hear is cancer. I know they gave me a tonne of information on that first day and I just put it to the side and didn't look at it. I couldn't, I needed time to process. A couple of days later I started reading and for me it helped because it meant that I knew what I was dealing with and the pros and cons to the treatments and reconstructions that they offered me. Once treatment started I just took it one day at a time. only looking at what my next appointment was for and preparing for that, then once that was over then looking at the next one or it became too overwhelming.
Digest the information anyway you feel you need to and definitely talk to your partner about what you are feeling. I know my partner felt a bit useless at times but he didn't appreciate how much I just needed him there because I wasn't sure I was hearing everything.
Good luck tomorrow,
H
Thankyou. Got my husband reading the books they gave. He has this week off and is coming to my meeting next week.
Thanks for replying
Welcome to the club that noone asks to be in nor invited to but you're in a good place.
