Post surgery

Hi everyone,

it’s been a long time. I have been having pain in my right armpit. I’ve had a double mastectomy with 2 lymph nodes out of my right armpit and one the left. I’ve recently had a burning pain in my right armpit. I’m two years post surgery. I have no breast tissue. Is this common? I have no lump

  • I had that for a few weeks after surgery, then it cleared up. I was told it was nerve damage.  Yours may be something different so do get it checked out.  Best wishes! xxx

  • I’m 2 years post surgery though…

  • You need to see your doctor. Good luck!  xxx

  • Hi  , always good to get anything new/ unusual checked out. Just thought I’d share some post op stuff - I am 6 and a half years post op btw - anyway I joined a gym for the first time (at 63) in order to help general fitness and specifically do upper body stuff for bone health and breast lympheodema. After a session I am often particularly painful on the operated side and get a specific pain that I’d only previously had in the months after my op - a very sharp pain when changing into 5th gear, something about that movement was excruciating for several months. I now get that same pain, though less severe, after a gym session. So my ramble (sorry) is just to say that things can maybe be ‘stirred up’ again even years after.
But regardless, I’d definitely get it checked out. Are you still getting annual mammograms? I had them for 5 years post op and could also self refer to the breast clinic in between times. I did this several times and was never made to feel that I was wasting anyone’s time. Thankfully none of it came to anything but on a couple of occasions I had an earlier mammogram and/ or ultrasound just to be sure.
Good luck with it and let us know how you get on. Love and hugs, HFxx

  • I get a burning pain under the armpit sometimes where I had node clearance. It happens intermittently and began about 6 months ago so also roughly 2 years after surgery.

I was told it is nerve damage. I have had 2 pet-ct for other reasons  since the burning feeling started and neither identified an issue in that area.I also get a burning feeling in my feet where I have peripheral neuropathy
