Hello, I started 1 out of 4 EC last Friday and I am really struggling with the loss of state. Nothing tastes the same and I just don’t know what to eat.
How long does it last? What have you done to help with this?
Hi maMoyo
I had 3 cycles of EC and also found that food didn't taste the same while on it.
I found that eating spicy food, like curry and chilli, was best as the strong, spicy taste meant that I could actually taste it. Also, pineapple always tasted of pineapple whether I ate it as a fruit or drank it as fruit juice.
Thanx for your prompt response, I have tried curry with no luck. I’ll try pineapple as you suggested
Hi, I'd also recommend pineapple and I found I could tolerate cucumber. For me the taste improved after about 10 days in each cycle. It's horrible, you really have my sympathy, I found it one of the hardest side effects to deal with. Best wishes
I'm the same as you...first EC cycle down, 2nd next week and have been experiencing changes in taste, as well as losing the taste for some things, especially my beloved coffee
As well as trusty pineapple, I've been munching on crystallised ginger (it also helps the nausea I've been experiencing) and cherry tomatoes, of all things, and rich, tomato based sauces such as bolognese sauce. Olives have been good at stopping the weird taste in my mouth and I've been recommended some boiled fruit sweets called Queasy Drops as they are strong tasting, so will see what they are like.
Good luck with your trearment x
That’s very helpful, thank you very much. I’ve enjoyed pineapple and mango this evening, think I might be getting my taste back
I’ll try ginger, not sure about the olives but I’ll give them a go if nothing else works next time. Don’t know if that contributed to me feeling poorly today, spent the day in the Emergency Assessment bay. At least I can tasste & enjoy a decent meal tonight
