My daughter has just finished her chemo and radiation and is on tamoxifen now but gets very achy joint pain
she has asked me to ask you all if you have any tips to help relieve this pain thanks.
Please ask your daughter to check with her consultant as I have been advised to avoid turmeric as it can reduce the effectiveness of tamoxifen.
Although it can be difficult when you are feeling achy, exercise is recommended repeatedly to mitigate most side effects of this medication.
Hi Barley
The oestrogen suppressant tablets can cause this, but it can also be caused by the coatings of the tablets. I had anastrozole (being post menopause) but same principle applies to tamoxifen. If you go to the NHS it shows what brands are available . Look at their names and google for the information leaflet. This provides you the information on what is in the coatings and they can vary quite considerably. I had Accord initially, then when they didn't have this brand I was given Consillient. Within a couple of days I was hit with aches and pains. I then did my research and found distinct differences. Teva and Accord were the same ingredients, so I got the doctor to write on my prescription: Teva or Accord brand only". I tried consillient again (just to test the theory) and the same thing happened.
Worth having a look and seeing if a change of brand may help her.
Kindest wishes, Lesley
