Hi all,
i have been on Letrozole since January, the hospital supplied Sun Pharma brand and the next month from the pharmacy was also Sun Pharma. Two months in and very little side effects so my doctor specified that I should have Sun Pharma always. Since then I have been given Accord, Crescent and Cipla (which gave me horrendous nightmares) To say that I have a body like an old woman is no exaggeration, I have to walk around upstairs for a bit to loosen up before I attempt the stairs and seize up regularly during the day.
Well last month I again got given Sun Pharma and I’m like a new woman. I have spoken to my local pharmacies and they cannot specify the brand they get sent, and I just have to take it.
Given I have another 4 years of this before switching to Tamoxifen surely I should be able to have a brand that causes me the least side effects.
Anybody have any ideas?
sorry for the long post
I am due to start taking Letrozole in the next couple of days.
My pharmacy is part of a big chain. When I asked to be given the same brand each time the pharmacist told me that she would set aside 2 boxes for me as and when they came in. If she wasn't able to get them she could see, on line, which shop had them and she would give me a script to collect them from there.
Of course , I haven't tested the system yet so I will have to see if it works.
Good luck with your hunt - it shouldn't have to be so difficult
Hi
I feel your pain I have now done 2 1/2 years out of 10 on Letrozole I have it stated on my prescription to issue Sun Pharma but not always that easy. I sometimes have to ring round pharmacies to see who has that brand. I have a great pharmacy which try so hard to get this brand for me. I have had a total meltdown in shop and they are so kind. I had 2 months of Accord and got a frozen shoulder and tendonitis in my wrist. The frozen shoulder needed hospital treatment.
Be aware there are 18 different brands some may be better but I am not prepared to take the risk. Sun Pharma is not without its side effects but are manageable .
I was told the only way to guarantee the same brand is to get the GP to prescribe the patient brand Fermara but they wont as it is very expensive . It's just a constant fight. Hope you manage to get it bless you .

Hi, my GP has specified Sun Pharma or Accord on my prescription and so far they both work well and have similar side effects, which are pretty manageable so maybe it’s worth asking the GP. Best wishes
I have Sun Pharma on my prescription and still they give me whatever they’ve got!
Both pharmacies in my area told me they can only order ‘Letrozole’ and have to take what they are given!
