Hi
Woke up yesterday feeling awful. Hardly could stay awake. Had mouth ulcer. I’ve been eating despite not much appetite. Ended up sleeping most the day.
can’t eat anything too heavy or meat. Funnily having a little pickled red cabbage has helped.
Not sure if it’s the daily injection as I have 5 more to come.
today a bit better but my head feels weird. Body feels weird.
Mouth much better.
I don’t have temperature but just feel tired.
x
Hi Mucca
Im assuming you’re on a chemotherapy course and the injections are to boost immunity/white blood cells?
if so then it sounds like normal chemotherapy side effects. You’re certainly not being a drama queen it’s not a pleasant thing to experience but we get through it. If you’re worried then you can always speak to your breast care nurse for reassurance. Take care, rest when you need to and remember it’s only for a few months. xx
It’s not easy but you’ll get through it. I found sucking ice or frozen grapes helped with sore mouth and Loratadine (antihistamine) can help with joint/bone pain from the injections - check with your team first though because what worked for me might not be right for you. Knowing what to expect helps you deal with side effects. I found nausea was not a problem but had awful acid with EC and feeling tired was cumulative so pretty exhausted by the end of the treatment. If you have a Maggies near they usually do a preparing for chemo course ( bit late but still might be useful and they’re really knowledgeable and happy to help) Breast Cancer Now website also has downloadable booklets and a chemo starter forum so you can compare experiences with others in the same boat. Good luck with the treatment going forward xx
Hi
I fail to understand where you feel like a drama queen (sorry to be blunt)?
I had 3 cycles of EC and each 1 wiped me out off the planet. I've now started the 9 weeks of Paclitaxel, and although it's supposed to be easier, it has wiped me out.
It's no wonder you're feeling like crap. Just rest when you need to.
My appetite took a beating whilst on EC but little and often. A piece of toast here, a ginger biscuit there, a piece of fruit. I also tried to stay hydrated
Talk to your team and do what works best for you.
A PICC line will also help matters instead of cannulas each time
Take care of yourself x
