  • Hi JayneMS

Welcome to the forum and I am sorry to hear that you have been diagnosed with stage 2 breast cancer.  What you are feeling is perfectly natural as getting a cancer diagnosis is a shock to the system.  The start of a cancer diagnosis is a number to tests to determine the best course of treatment for your type of breast cancer.  The CT scan is fairly straightforward, they inject a radioactive dye into your body and then put you lying on a scan bed then they move the scan bed up and down to a donut shaped thing. The machine will talk to you asking you to breathe in and that will happen three or four times.  The scan takes about 20 minutes all told.

Wishing you the best of luck with the scan and with the results from it.

    Best wishes

  • Just do something that you love to do to help take your mind off things if only for a short while.  I find either reading a good book for getting out in the fresh air helps.

  • Spoken to the hospital now saying up to 2 weeks for the CT scan ? Asked why they told me a couple of days ago, the lady said they always do that but it’s up to 2 weeks but you might hear wedsFace palm♀️ mixed messages

  • Dear Jayne, I am so sorry to hear about all that you are going through, I too got diagnosed the other week with stage 2 and am waiting for scans. I have one on Friday and the following Monday so have been told I will know more by Friday week. The waiting can be really though, I have been pencilled in for surgery though but they may change depending on the outcome of the scan results. Have they given you any idea of what the treatment plan might be. Sending love and healing hugs xxx

  • Nothing at all , I really feel totally in the dark . They took a biopsy from one of my lymph nodes the same time as the breast  ones . They told me they believed it was stage 2 as it was rather a large mass. I ask about the other biopsy both looked shocked , wasn’t aware of it the doctor went out side came back with a piece of paper and said there was no result off that . To be honest I’m not sure now if I believe that . All frustrating. I’m not sure if this how it normally goes. They told me they wouldn’t have a plan of action till the HER results were back . The scan in a couple of days then back in two weeks. I go off to get blood tests the junior doctor couldn’t take blood after 3 attempts, saw a phlebotomist she took them . Got appointment, soonest they could book me in was 3 weeks. Then doctor there told me yesterday could be waiting 2 weeks for CT scan , asked why they told me 2 days she. Said they always say that  then said I should hear by Wednesday. I really don’t know me ass from me elbow right now .

  • Thank you for your reply x sorry for the rant x please let me know how you get on xx wishing lots of luck and love xx

  • Hi JayneMS

I fully understand how you are feeling,  it is a scary thing that you have been diagnosed with.

I am ahead of you with my journey,  read my profile to see the timings I have experienced and the tests that you may need.

My husband has always told me not to worry about things you cannot change and although difficult I have tried to go with the flow.

The scans are all painless, some are noisy, some require an injection of a contrast.  All will be essential in order to get you the best possible outcome.

Its not easy but try to trust the system and the experts,  the waiting is the worst thing but try and stay strong and as positive as you can.

I have walked for miles, gone out every day, treated myself to lunch, gone swimming,  whatever helps to keep me calm and sane.

Wishing you all the best for your journey.
