Dear All, I am due to go to my first appointment on Thursday to discuss my biopsy results etc. I have since found out it is the surgeon I am seeing. I had already been told to prepare for a cancer diagnosis which I am slowly accepting when I had my mammogram and ultrasound . Is it normal to see a surgeon on your first visit. Part of me is actually relived as I just want to get on with treatment. xxx
It was the breast surgeon I saw on my first visit to hospital after my biopsies, etc. She confirmed I had breast cancer and talked me through everything. She had her diary and booked me in for surgery whilst I was with her.
I was told it looked like cancer during the Ultra sound and a couple of biopsies were undertaken. Three weeks later I was told by the breast surgeon the actual diagnosis and booked in for surgery five weeks later.
Hi Sparkleandshine,
The consultant who examined me and organised my ultrasound, biopsy and mammogram was also my surgeon so it was her who discussed my results with me which I really appreciated as it was the same person who seen me from the start of this journey through to discussing histo results.
Wish you luck with your results xx
Yes it’s normal to see the breast surgeon. All the very best to you.
I found it useful to have my questions all written down because it’s easy to just sit there slack jawed……
you might actually feel better once you know what’s what. take care , the wait is tough.
I saw the surgeon at the clinic when I had imaging and first biopsies, then again when called back for results, when more imaging and biopsies were ordered. She takes her cases to an MDT with oncologist, radiographer, pathologist and others to discuss and feeds back, but is lead on my case.
Thank you all so much for your replies, I really appreciate it xxx
Hi Sparkleandshine sorry you find yourself on this group but I just wanted to say it’s a great place to find community, share experiences, ask questions. It’s certainly helped me feel less alone.
if there’s someone you can take to the appointment to take notes and help digest and remember the info they give you is recommend it, or ask the breast nurse to write it all down for you.
