Hi  I am having my first Zolatronic acid infusion today and terrified.

Any advice please

  • Hi Skylark, sorry to hear that you feel so terrified about your first zoledronic acid infusion  I had my first one during the summer and was a bit apprehensive. However, the only obvious side effect was feeling a bit flu like the day after. I did experience some hip joint pain for a few weeks in the summer, but not sure if this is down to the phesgo injections that I'm on. Since having the infusion I was put on a daily Calcium tablet, not sure if everyone has this. Good luck for today and try to relax a bit if you can. Xx

  • Thank you Daisy24

i don’t know why I am getting so anxious as I have done chemo and Phesgo and now on Letozole and Herceptin  X

  • Hi

I have been having 6 monthly zoledronic acid infusions (Zometa) every 6 months since December 2022 and have never experienced any side effects.

  • I think it's perfectly natural to get anxious at times during treatment, its a lot to go through. I was so nervous before my first phesgo injection. I imagined it was going to be so painful, due to being administered slowly. However, I didn't find it too bad at all and worried for nothing. In fact my husband trained at the chemo unit and now gives me these injections at home, which saves a trip to the hospital. Let me know how you get on. Xx

  • Thank you Latchbrook that. Is very reassuring.

it all comes from well before my cancer diagnosis a friends husband was having this treatment and was in bed sick for a week afterwards and for some reason I remembered the name of the treatment - dJoy’t know why it stuck in my mind as can’t remember what day it is sometimes Joy

  • Wow that’s great that your hubby can give you the injection, i had two tumours in my left breast and as only one had a complete response to the phesgo I was switch to Herceptin only together with letrozole after surgery.

Now the Clatterbridge community nurse comes to administer it which is great.

Have had my infusion and back home now - the anticipation is always worse than imagined. Going to take a couple of paracetamol and have a little sleep hopefully.

Thank you for your support Xxx

  • Your welcome, glad to hear that it all went well. Just take it easy and have a good rest. Xx
