Breast MRI anxiety

I have grade 2 lobular  breast cancer, so will be having an MRI to see where else it may be sneaking about on Monday.
I’m getting myself anxious that I won’t be able to cope with lying on my front etc for the scan. Any reassurance welcome! Does it go quickly? What we’re your coping strategies?
Waiting for appointments is the so exhaustingly stressful. From recall mam letter, to biopsy, to appointment for results to MRI.

  • Hi

I was diagnosed with lobular cancer grade 2 aswell I have been through the MRI you are given headphones with music to listen to so it takes your mind of it. It is a weird sensation but went pretty quick for me the radiologist did keep speaking to me and giving reassurance they also told me where they were up to you are given a button to press if you feel anxious. Luckily it hadn’t spread to the right breast but showed up another area in the left breast  which I needed to have a second look scan luckily it was a cyst. The waiting is the hardest part but in my case I was diagnosed in August and had my lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy on the 11 October just waiting for the pathology results now hope you don’t find it to overwhelming and you will smash it

  • Morning, I was diagnosed with grade 2 lobular bc but wasn't offered an MRI scan, I wonder why. It's got me worried now x

  • Morning I’m not sure why they haven’t offered you one maybe talk to your breast care nurse and they can explain it to you. I have spoken to mine quite a few times and they are really good. Always here if you need to chat xx

  • Let us know when you have an answer xx

  • I have my MRI today but not until 6 in the evening I am so scared it's going to flag up that it has spread, I keep feeling dizzy and getting headaches but not sure if it's just me working myself up. I am claustrophobic too.

  • Hi shelly

i felt the exact same way and it did flag up another area but it was only a cyst thank god the way I look at it is if it gets picked up early it can be dealt with I’m sure you will be fine you don’t go all the way in the machine it’s just your top half and you have headphones with music and a button to press. Hope all goes well for you

  • Thank you Lou

I think until I get the results of the mri and treatment plan then I'm going to be on edge.

I hope your treatment is going well x
