Hi all,

I'm wondering if there are any single women in the UK in their 30s going through the breast cancer journey.

I've had surgery and waiting to start chemo next month and feel pretty lonely at this stage.

I've not told any friends yet as I know they just won't get it... would be nice to talk to someone who understands.

Let me know if you'd like to chat/connect! Fingers crossed tone1Slight smile

  • I’m not single but I happy to have you speak with me I have just started chemo yesterday and finding it quite weird as I have never been unwell so this is all difficult for me

I have told everyone using fb to announce so I just didn’t have to think about it later the better people know I think

happy to give number to chat via watsapp

  • I’m not single but going through the breast cancer journey I was diagnosed with invasive lobular cancer in August and went through biopsies and waiting finally had my lumpectomy and sentinel node biopsy on the 11 October I am now waiting for the pathology results and keeping my fingers crossed. I have only told a select few people as I feel that’s all that need to know. I would be happy to have a chat.

  • I had a lumpectomy which had clear margins and lymph nodes were fine so the chemo is preventative.  I will lose my hair so there is no way of hiding it anymore so will need to get the courage to tell my friends... It sucks doesn't it.

I hope your results come back clear for you! Fingers crossed tone1

  • Hello. How are you feeling today after the Chemo?

I'm meeting the Oncologist in a couple of weeks so trying to prepare myself as much as I can.

  • Hi Emma

Thank you. it is tough to cope but the more people that know the more they can support you which is what you need to help you get through it also talking on here helps we are all here for you xx

  • Some of it was painful when being administered but he staff sorted it straight away

they explained it all and were great

I have suffered some side affects abut agin they have sorted it and arranged for antibiotics as I have developed uti infection which is very rare side affect but they give you a card to call if you think anything is wrong so they are on it straight away

  • My oncologist explained it all very clearly and bluntly which I appreciated because everyone had been Woolley she just said I’ll put your through hell for a few months but it’s to get you better made it very clear that some of our holidays would need to be cancelled etc so we knew reality was kicking in

  • That's good to hear that any issues, they are straight on it.

I had a 5 week wait to know whether I was going to need chemo or not but at least now they can say for definite about the hair loss which was the biggest thing for me.

Are you having chemo with the NHS or privately?

Shame about the holidays also. I was due to go to Istanbul on 4th November but that was cancelled and luckily I had insurance so got the money back.

  • I decided to go in one holiday whilst waiting for appt to see NHS oncologist just to have some relaxing time cos we knew it would be full on when we got back

I have decided to not have the cold cap to save hair cos I have read lots of people say it can be painful and I am happy to have a wig especially as they provide good ones a lot in my area have said the woman they use makes it a fun day for you and family that go with you
